BTC open interest is 7.621 billion, down 0.68% over 24 hours, while the price rose 1.72% to 82,691.
This divergence is more worth watching than the price increase itself. Of 739 USDT perpetual contracts, 567 are up, or 76.7%. Sentiment is running hot, but leveraged capital isn’t piling in. BTC’s funding rate for this period is just +0.00230%, and ETH’s is +0.00228%—both readings are nearly neutral. In other words, the price move isn’t being driven by new leverage; it looks more like existing capital rotating within the market. Small-cap tokens like US (+102.03%) and JCT (+86.48%) are surging the hardest and also have the highest funding rates. All the excitement is concentrated at the tail end of the market.
Honestly, I’m a little cautious about this kind of market. Broad gains without support from rising open interest usually have less staying power. We’ll have to see whether fresh capital actually comes in.
At levels like this, would you usually make a move or wait it out?
