$ETH has less than one-fifth of BTC’s market cap, yet its liquidation volume exceeded BTC’s
⚠️ Ethereum saw $356 million in liquidations over 24 hours, dealing a heavy blow to leveraged longs!
The crypto market has undergone another major round of deleveraging.
Over the past 24 hours, liquidations across the crypto market totaled approximately $1.19 billion, including:
🔹 ETH: approximately $356 million
🔹 BTC: approximately $298 million
🔹 Long liquidations across the market: over $1 billion
Most notably, ETH has less than one-fifth of BTC’s market cap, yet its liquidation volume exceeded BTC’s. Relative to market cap, ETH faced liquidation pressure roughly six times greater than BTC.
This indicates that leveraged positions betting on a price rise were severely squeezed. Forced liquidations could amplify short-term volatility, but large-scale liquidations do not necessarily mean prices will keep falling.
Next, watch whether ETH can regain and hold the $2,500 level, and whether trading volume picks up during any rebound.
