Bitcoin ETFs see $244 million in net outflows in a single day! Are institutional investors starting to pull back?

Bitcoin has just gone through a correction, and now there’s another less-than-optimistic signal from institutional investors. 👀
According to the latest fund flow data, U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs saw net outflows of about $244.1 million on October 8, marking a second consecutive trading day of net outflows.

Here are a few key points to watch 👇
1️⃣ Outflows for two consecutive days
On October 7, spot Bitcoin ETFs saw net outflows of about $487 million; on October 8, another $244 million flowed out. Two consecutive days of withdrawals suggest that some investors are reducing their risk exposure.

2️⃣ Fidelity funds led the day’s outflows
On October 8, Fidelity’s FBTC saw net outflows of about $197.1 million, while BlackRock’s IBIT saw net outflows of about $5.5 million. Fund flows varied, so it would be an oversimplification to say that all institutions are selling.

3️⃣ Macroeconomic pressures remain significant
Rising oil prices, higher U.S. Treasury yields, and concerns about the Federal Reserve’s monetary policy have all been weighing on risk assets recently. Bitcoin, too, can’t fully escape macro market volatility.

My take: Consecutive ETF outflows are worth keeping an eye on, but they’re not enough to conclude that the bull market is over.
Two things to watch next:
Whether spot ETF flows turn positive again.
Whether real buying demand can keep up when Bitcoin’s price rebounds.

If prices rebound while funds continue to flow out, it’s time to be more cautious. If inflows return, market sentiment may gradually recover.

Watch price action for direction and fund flows for trends. Don’t just focus on the candlestick chart—pay attention to where the money is going, too.
