Huge day for SpaceX - Oct 9, 2026 is moving markets:

1. SpaceX is becoming a US phone carrier - TODAY
Biggest headline this morning:

SpaceX has agreed to buy a nationwide low-band 800 MHz spectrum portfolio from Grain Management for about $8B, to turn Starlink Mobile into a major US carrier

The deal enables direct-to-cell service where your regular phone connects to Starlink satellites. Low-band means it travels farther and penetrates buildings better than higher frequencies.

Fallout: Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile all tumbled pre-market, Starlink competitor AST SpaceMobile also hit. Elon Musk called it a "very big deal."

2. $40B raise to buy Nvidia chips
Separate trending report today: SpaceX is looking to raise $40bn in financing led by Apollo to buy Nvidia chips - tied to its AI / Starlink data center push.

3. Starship - Florida debut imminent
SpaceX says "Things are going super well at 39A" - prepping for first Starship launch from Florida
Schedule floating per FAA filings:
Flight 11: Oct 13 from Starbase, Texas - final flight of Version 2 Starship, testing next-gen Super Heavy design and heatshield stress test
Flight 15 (Orbital): Oct 19 from Boca Chica
First operational Florida launch: Oct 30 from Kennedy Space Center, labeled Starlink 30-1 - not a test, but deploying Starlink satellites

Context: Flight 14 last month was SpaceX's first revenue-generating Starship flight - it made orbit and deployed 26 Starlink V3 satellites.
