The Moscow Exchange (MOEX) has spoken up: it plans to launch crypto trading on December 1.

This isn’t just some random post—TASS reported it on October 8, citing Boris Blokhin, Senior Managing Director of the Moscow Exchange.

1️⃣ Timeline: Plans to offer cryptocurrency trading opportunities under the new legal framework starting December 1

2️⃣ Testing: Testing began about a week ago and will continue until launch; trades are being executed in the test environment, and professional participants are still being invited to join

3️⃣ Licensing rationale: The existing “trading organizer” license and stock market infrastructure are enough—the exchange says it does not need to be added to any additional register

4️⃣ Asset list: The TASS article didn’t list assets like $BTC/$ETH —secondary media love to speculate, but we won’t make things up here.

Let’s temper expectations: this is the exchange’s own plan, not a launch date confirmed by the Bank of Russia. A plan ≠ approval; test trades ≠ a public order book.

This is different from the previous two stories, too: October 6 was about the first custodians/exchanges being registered by the central bank; the September news was about crypto index futures. This time, it’s about the exchange trading channel itself.

My take: Russia really is moving crypto into a “licensed trading venues + banking system” framework. But whether it can hit the December 1 date depends on testing and the central bank’s detailed rules—not clickbait headlines.
