According to CNBC, Delta Air Lines CEO Ed Bastian said the carrier is weighing whether to proceed with its planned Atlanta-to-Riyadh route after attacks claimed by Iran-backed Houthi rebels escalated in Saudi Arabia. The flights are scheduled to begin on Oct. 23, and Bastian said the airline will inform customers of its decision soon. Delta plans to operate the route daily from Oct. 23 to Oct. 30 before shifting to three-times-a-week service, and it said when it announced the route earlier this year that it would be the first nonstop service between the U.S. and Riyadh operated by a U.S. airline. Saudi Arabia's civil aviation authority said three people were killed in attacks at Riyadh's King Khalid International Airport as Houthis stepped up strikes in the country.
