Solana continues its relentless pursuit of speed by cutting the time between blocks in half, reducing the target from 400ms to just 200ms. This technical change raises the bar for decentralized exchanges and high-frequency applications, ensuring near-instant confirmations.
However, this advance requires a huge effort from validators, who need more processing power and ultra-low-latency connections to keep up.
My opinion: Speeding up the network is essential to establishing Solana as the leading blockchain for real-time trading. However, placing greater demands on validators’ hardware could put pressure on smaller operators. The real challenge won’t simply be breaking speed records, but ensuring stability and decentralization without creating new congestion under high demand.
