Report says Apple plans to launch touch-screen OLED MacBook Pro around October 27
Apple is reportedly planning a second round of product launches in late October, possibly as early as around October 27. Highlights are said to include a MacBook Pro with an OLED display and touch functionality, as well as a new-generation OLED iPad mini. The report cites sources for Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, who say Apple is also planning to launch a 14-inch MacBook Pro with an M6 chip and an iMac. Apple has not officially announced plans for a launch on October 27, and the specific date remains a media-reported plan.
The rumored touch-screen OLED MacBook Pro will reportedly come in 14-inch and 16-inch models, with a thinner and lighter design than current models and a Dynamic Island at the top of the screen. The product will remain part of the MacBook Pro lineup; although there had previously been speculation that it might be renamed “MacBook Ultra,” this Bloomberg report says the new device will still belong to the MacBook Pro family. The report does not provide confirmed specifications such as display resolution, brightness, chip model, memory configuration, battery life, or price. Nor does it clarify the specific product configuration relationship between the touch-screen OLED model and the M6 14-inch MacBook Pro, so these details should not be considered final.
The new iPad mini is said to feature an OLED display, a repositioned front-facing camera for landscape video calls, and a redesigned speaker system. Earlier reports about an A20 Pro chip came from clues in Apple’s code and media coverage, rather than official confirmation from Apple; this Bloomberg report also does not disclose the device’s display size, refresh rate, storage capacity, or price.
