The yuan climbed to a four-year high against a basket of its trading partners’ currencies after the People’s Bank of China rejected claims that it is undervalued and defended its exchange-rate management, according to Bloomberg.

The central bank’s comments came as the currency strengthened versus the trade-weighted basket.
