The giants have just poured another $37.5 million into the idea of buying life insurance with $BTC .

Meanwhile (Bermuda) announced that existing investors have put in another $37.5 million, with Bain Capital Crypto leading the round and Haun Ventures, Framework Ventures, Pantera Capital, Apollo, Northwestern Mutual Future Ventures, and Morgan Creek Digital participating. Sam Altman is also among the backers. Total funding has now exceeded $180 million. Axios exclusively reported a valuation of around $350 million (confirmed to Axios by the CEO).

What they’re selling isn’t “crypto-concept insurance,” but real life insurance under a regulatory license: its subsidiary, Meanwhile Insurance Bitcoin, holds the Bermuda Monetary Authority’s (BMA) first Class IILT long-term insurance license (it exited the sandbox in July 2024). Its balance sheet, reserves, and audited financial statements are all denominated in $BTC ; premiums are paid in, and death benefits paid out, in $BTC. BTC 10-Pay is aimed at U.S. taxpayers; BTC Life 1-Pay, launched early this year, is a single-premium whole-life policy targeting international high-net-worth individuals. According to the company, after the first year, policyholders can borrow up to 90% of the policy value, with no repayment schedule and no margin calls. Individuals, trusts, and companies can all own a policy—that’s the succession and wealth-transfer angle.

Demand-side figures they reported themselves: broker channels in Asia, Europe, and the Middle East are promoting it; 15 firms have signed up, including in Singapore, Hong Kong, the UAE, and Switzerland. Net long-term underwriting revenue has already exceeded the full-year total for last year, and they say it could more than double in 2026—these are company disclosures, not audited conclusions.

My screening criteria:

1️⃣ $BTC Moving from “holding” to “writing it into insurance policies”—the wealth-planning layer is stepping in; this isn’t just another meme narrative.

2️⃣ Licenses + institutional custody + an old-money broker network are an order of magnitude more credible than “on-chain mutual aid”; but insurance is always a local business, and regulation, taxes, and underwriting terms are the gray rhinos.

3️⃣ Both the valuation and the growth rate come from the fundraising narrative. Don’t mistake fundraising for premiums.

Screening only, not financial education. Markets involve risk; this is not investment advice.
