Understand one rule, and you could avoid losing 100,000. Seven ironclad rules learned through ten years of liquidations
After ten years in crypto, I went from getting liquidated to being able to support my family. I’m no genius trader—I’m someone the market has taught down to my bones. Understand one rule and you could avoid losing 100,000. Follow three and you’ll outperform most retail traders.
Don’t chase pumps. Don’t get excited when you see a coin taking off. Let it rise as much as it wants; just act like it doesn’t exist. Chasing pumps to get rich quick usually ends with buying at the top. Being able to sit out while others make money is when you start to mature.
There are only two kinds of coins: ones at a buy point, and garbage. Don’t ask whether a coin is good; ask whether it’s at a buy point. Only coins at major buy points can be considered top performers. Until you’ve finished building your position, it’s not your gold.
Fidgety hands are more dangerous than not knowing how to read a chart. Placing an order when you know it’s not a buy point isn’t a market problem—it’s a mindset problem. If you don’t work on your mindset, indicators and strategies are just decorations. Trading crypto starts with mastering your mind.
Don’t get attached to coins; get attached to signals. Don’t fixate on any coin or price level. When a signal comes, buy when it’s time to buy and sell when it’s time to sell. If you have enough capital, trade weekly or monthly. Build your position in stages and diversify. Make money by staying in rhythm—it’s never too late.
Mistakes aren’t the market’s fault. The market is always right. What’s wrong is your position size, timing, or mindset. Every loss is tuition for your next trade. Don’t curse the charts; look in the mirror first.
Being desperate to make money is the original sin. If you can’t even control your own mind, how can you handle a market that swings 30%? When you’re holding coins, you’re being led around by greed. When you’re out of the market, fear holds you hostage.
The market rewards patient people. If you switch coins every day, you’re destined to make only small profits. Good coins need time to grow; patience is what compounds. Don’t rush into every new project as soon as it gets hot—don’t let your hard-earned money chase trends.
There’s no finish line on this road. The ones who last aren’t the people who predict best; they’re the ones who can still sit tight when they’re out of the market.
I wrote these seven rules in @老森笔记 so I can check whether I should make a move that day. If you’re still chasing pumps, getting itchy trigger fingers, or switching coins every day, leave a comment saying which rule you break most often. I’ll only talk about whether to make this trade, not about the next coin that’ll make you rich.
