🚨 Don’t get fooled! Exposing the phishing scam behind “BTC drops to $81,000 and I’ll give away $300,000 in BTC” on X!

He says that if $BTC drops to $81,000, he’ll randomly give 15 people $20,000 worth of BTC each.

If it were true, this tweet would cost him $300,000, and all he’d get in return is a post with a very high number of views.

From a financial perspective, that clearly doesn’t make much sense!!!!

So I wouldn’t rule out the possibility that he’s using this to drive traffic, then scamming people in some way—for example, asking winners to pay gas fees to a certain address first, or sending them a phishing link that asks them to authorize their wallet to claim the reward.

I scrolled back through this guy’s posts, and they’re almost all the same kind of thing:

September 18: If BTC drops to $81,000, I’ll give away $20,000.
September 23: Changed it to: If BTC drops below $84,000, I’ll give away $200.
October 8: Changed it back to: If BTC drops to $81,000, I’ll give away $20,000.

It’s basically the classic “The Boy Who Cried Wolf” story, but somehow people still fall for it every time.

And I think this kind of scam is very similar to those that used to be popular on the internet.

For example, “Tencent’s Ma Huateng is celebrating his birthday—share this post to get QQ membership”; or “It’s Elon Musk’s birthday—like, comment, and share to get a blue verified badge.”
