According to Jin10, Nikkei reported that multiple people familiar with the matter said Apple has asked some suppliers to cut component production for the newly released iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max after sharply higher memory chip costs forced Apple to raise prices and dampened consumer demand. Two of the people said Apple's component orders for this month were cut by at least 15% from the original request, while one company executive said orders for the two premium models were cut by 15% to 20% in October alone. Another person familiar with the matter said the move may be related to Apple's adjusted iPhone launch schedule, with three premium models prioritized this year and the standard iPhone 18 and next-generation iPhone Air set for release next spring. A supply chain manager said demand for products in the second half of this year has been weaker since August than in the same period in previous years, and that the standard iPhone 18, which can help drive sales growth, will not need components until around the end of this year ahead of a launch in early 2027.
