Glassnode revealed that around 6.26 million BTC (31.2% of the supply) have exposed public keys, up from 24.8% in early 2021.

Breakdown:

· 4.33 million BTC due to address reuse

· 1.94 million BTC from P2PK and Taproot scripts

· 1.79 million BTC held by exchanges (57% of identified holdings)

Rafael from Glassnode emphasized that this is only exposure of public keys; it does not mean the assets have been attacked, nor is it an assessment of exchange security. Until sufficiently powerful quantum computers exist, deriving private keys from public keys remains extremely difficult.
