The largest pool of digital dollars on earth just got a plug into US banking rails.
📌 What happened
Per CoinDesk, Polygon Labs' Open Money Stack added TRON support, so remittance firms and fintechs can offer USDT payments on TRON through one integration. More than $94 billion of USDT circulates on TRON, and about 93% of its $30 trillion in Q2 stablecoin transfer volume was peer-to-peer, the highest share CoinDesk tracks.
🔍 Why it matters
• A customer can fund by bank transfer, card or cash, receive USDT in a $TRX wallet and cash out to a bank later, without the business stitching together a wallet provider, a bridge and a fiat ramp.
• USDT can move between TRON and EVM chains inside the stack, which puts Polygon in the middle of flows it previously did not touch.
• Polygon says its fiat ramp holds money-transmitter licences covering 48 US states, which is the part most startups cannot build.
👀 What to watch
• Whether payment firms actually ship on it. Sandeep Nailwal framed it as one integration replacing many, which only matters if volume follows.
• The risk: $POL is down about 2.8% today and 10.8% on the week per CoinGecko, so the market is not yet paying for infrastructure deals. Licensing obligations also stay with the payment firms.
💬 Is TRON becoming the default settlement layer for dollars outside the US?
