$OGN nearly doubled in a day. And there’s a mechanism here that’s more interesting than the green candle itself.
On October 8, Origin Protocol surged: the price $OGN rose from around $0.023 to $0.053. But can the entire move be explained by the buyback program?
The mechanism does exist. Origin uses fees from its products to buy OGN on the open market, then distributes the purchased tokens among xOGN stakers. So this isn’t just a promise to “support the price,” but a concrete model for returning protocol revenue to stakers.
At the same time, I couldn’t independently verify the figures claiming that exactly 56.2 million OGN were bought back for $1.26 million. And even a real buyback doesn’t prove that it caused the entire rally.
There’s another side to this: after such a sharp move, the price can become much more volatile. Technical indicators like MACD don’t guarantee where the next candle will go.
I think that with $OGN , it’s worth looking not only at the percentage gain, but also at whether the protocol generates enough fees for regular buybacks. A sustainable source of demand is one thing; a one-off price explosion is quite another.
