$STRK was trading at around $0.066, up about 32.7%, with a low of around $0.048 and a high of around $0.067. Spot trading volume on Binance was about $39 million. The catalyst is clear: Starknet said it is actively considering moving from an Ethereum L2 to an independent L1, with the goal of becoming the first fully quantum-resistant network by 2027. STARK proofs do not rely on elliptic curves, which the team believes gives them an advantage in the transition to post-quantum cryptography; account abstraction also makes it easier to switch signature algorithms in the future. Earlier incentives for strkBTC bridge fees and a mainnet upgrade had already brought market attention back to the project.

Market activity suggests that futures volume far exceeded spot volume, while open interest rose noticeably—a leveraged move driven by the news. In addition, around 127 million STRK tokens are due to unlock around October 15 and will need to be absorbed, making sharp short-term swings in either direction more likely. The proposal still needs governance approval; it is a long way from being a case of “announced today, forked tomorrow.”

My view: The narrative is compelling, but the path to execution is long. There is strong resistance around $0.067, while $0.05 is a level to watch for a pullback. With an unlock coming up, it’s suited to a small-position swing trade, not a large position to hold through thick and thin.

If you’re bullish on the post-quantum narrative, you could also add Starknet to your watchlist—but use an event-driven framework rather than a “buy and forget for three years” approach. Volatility around unlock dates often hurts more than the narrative itself.

Watch for the team to provide a clearer governance timeline; the valuation premium can only hold once that timeline is put into action.

Interest in the quantum narrative will rise and fall with industry discussion, and price swings may be amplified in tandem.
