The crypto market is restless in the early hours.
$APT made a big move: the Aptos Foundation announced a major overhaul of its tokenomics—210M APT permanently locked, nearly 18% of the circulating supply; staking yields cut in half from 5.19% to 2.6%; gas fees up 10x; and total supply capped at 2.1 billion.
In other words: less issuance + locked tokens + burns—the classic deflationary playbook. I get the logic of easing sell pressure in the short term, but I have reservations about a 10x increase in gas fees. On-chain activity depends on low costs to begin with, so it’s hard to say whether users will accept this.
Macro conditions keep weighing on the market. An Iranian oil tanker hit a mine in the Strait of Hormuz, Brent crude climbed above $102, and $BTC fell below $83K. U.S. Treasury yields are heading toward their highest levels since 2002. Trump says he won’t act before the midterm elections, but the Pentagon has already drawn up a three-day strike plan. Peaceful words, finger on the trigger—it’s exhausting.
$PYTH offered a bit of warmth: the DAO approved using 100% of revenue for buybacks, tripling the previous allocation of one-third. Buybacks with real money behind them are far more convincing than KOLs shilling.
Until the risk-off sentiment fades, keep your positions light. Don’t try to catch a falling knife.
