The Sui Foundation announced at Singapore Basecamp on October 8 that Bitcoin financial infrastructure Hashi will begin a phased mainnet launch in October: native BTC remains on the Bitcoin network, while hBTC is minted on Sui after deposit and can be used in lending, vaults, structured products, and institutional treasury management. Upon redemption, hBTC is burned and native BTC is released. The launch consortium has secured over $500 million in capital commitments and includes more than 20 partners. Vault partners include Aftermath, Concrete, Fluid, and others, providing launch liquidity for Bitcoin-backed markets.

Also announced that day, Anchorage Digital has joined the launch group: institutions can connect through its Atlas three-party custody and settlement service, or use the Porto self-custody wallet directly. Anchorage also plans to provide stablecoin liquidity to Hashi. The consortium also includes BitGo, Bullish, Cumberland, FalconX, Ledger, and others. Security measures include MPC and 2-of-2 multisignature, as well as a Guardian Layer. Smart contracts have undergone formal verification by Certora, and the MPC protocol has been reviewed cryptographically by CommonPrefix. Access will open gradually as partners complete their integrations, rather than all at once. Hashi is positioned by the team as an infrastructure primitive, with financial products such as lending and vaults provided independently by third parties.

In the markets, as of October 9 at 11:07 (UTC+8), $SUI was trading at about $1.051 on Binance Spot, down approximately 7.79% over 24 hours; $BTC was around $82,122, down approximately 1.03% over 24 hours.
