Samsung’s Q3 operating profit topped 100 trillion won for the first time, changing the way investors make money across the AI supply chain.
Samsung’s preliminary third-quarter revenue reached 195 trillion won, with operating profit at 107.4 trillion won, up 782.5% year over year. Behind this surge was growing demand for high-bandwidth memory (HBM) as AI infrastructure expanded, while tight supply and demand for memory chips also pushed prices higher.<Cite refs={["turn233634search0","turn233634news8"]}/>
This offers the market two takeaways:
First, the AI trade isn’t just about Nvidia. Memory chips, semiconductor equipment, and the data center supply chain are also worth watching.
Second, continued growth in AI capital spending could support earnings expectations for tech stocks. But if growth has already been priced in, stocks could still pull back once the good news is reflected in prices.
For crypto markets, the transmission path is that AI companies’ earnings and capital spending affect U.S. tech stocks, which in turn indirectly influence BTC through market risk appetite and liquidity expectations. Samsung’s record results do not mean Bitcoin is guaranteed to rise.
What I’m watching more closely is whether the AI investment boom can continue translating into corporate profits, and whether market expectations for future growth have become too high.
Do you think the next phase of the AI trade will keep driving tech stocks higher, or is it time to watch out for a sell-the-news pullback?
