$JCT has set another hourly high, but this time I’m leaning toward waiting rather than chasing. Trading volume was about 42% higher than in the previous hour, yet the price rose only about 2.21%, and the close pulled back from the high. The strength hasn’t disappeared entirely, but we can no longer apply the previous candle’s acceleration thesis to the latest hour.
The previous post analyzed 05:00–06:00: the price closed at 0.002488, up about 21.60% from 0.002046, on 6.5212 million USDT in trading volume, with the close very near the hourly high. At the time, the focus was on follow-through after the breakout, especially whether the price could continue to establish solid closing support near 0.002488. We now have a complete 06:00–07:00 candle, and that’s where the picture has changed.
This hour, the price reached a high of 0.002674, a low of 0.002357, and finally closed at 0.002543, up about 2.21% from the open at 0.002488. The higher close is evidence of continuation, but the price fell about 4.90% from this hour’s high, and at one point dropped below the previous hour’s close, showing that support faced greater resistance. A new high was made, but the gains at the peak were not held through the close.
More noteworthy is the 9.2848 million USDT in trading volume, about 42.38% higher than in the previous hour. Over the same one-hour period, activity picked up, but price progress was considerably smaller. We can say that the rally’s efficiency declined and disagreement increased; we cannot directly conclude that large holders were distributing. Trading volume includes both buyers and sellers, and a single upper wick isn’t enough to identify the sellers. If increased volume still fails to move the price higher, or if the price breaks down through the structure and cannot quickly recover, the evidence of weakening would be more convincing.
OI rose from 3.892 billion at 06:00 to 3.999 billion JCT at 07:00, an increase of about 2.73%, compared with an increase of about 5.85% in the previous window. Open interest is still rising, but at a slower rate. Combined with higher volume and weaker price progress, this shifts my focus from acceleration to support at elevated levels. OI does not equal new money flowing in, so we cannot infer from it that these are all long positions opening or shorts being squeezed out.
In the short term, first watch whether the price can continue to hold above 0.002488 at the close, then whether 0.002543 can turn into support. If the price pulls back and then climbs back above 0.002674, with trading volume over a comparable period once again driving the move, there will be more reason to expect further extension. If it repeatedly closes below 0.002488, especially if it breaks below the latest hourly low of 0.002357, expectations for this latest breakout should be lowered. Further down, 0.002176 was an hourly high in the previous phase; it would be premature to describe that as an inevitable path before the price has even fallen that far.
We still need to wait for four-hour confirmation: the 04:00–08:00 candle has not closed, and the most recently completed 00:00–04:00 candle closed at 0.001931 on 7.5684 million USDT in trading volume. The actual funding rate settlement at 04:00 was still +0.009380%; the current estimated value should not be presented as a settled figure. Janction’s GPU and AI background alone cannot explain tonight’s price action, and I haven’t verified any single catalyst from today that would be sufficient to attribute it to.
The new information this time isn’t how much further the price rose, but that more trading volume produced less progress. The acceleration discussed in my previous post eased in the following hour. Whether support holds from here is more useful to watch than the 24-hour gain.
Full rescan at 07:05: 523/523. JCT remains second, at around 0.002480, up 56.665% over 24 hours. The current price has moved back below the area around 0.002488, but the 07:00–08:00 candle has not closed, so I won’t prematurely call it a breakdown.
