TIA jumps 18% to $0.525: Heavy volume surge in 4 hours, OI value increases by 30%; if you’re chasing the move, wait for confirmation after the close
Conclusion first: This round of TIA’s rally shows characteristics of being amplified together by spot, perpetuals, trading volume, and nominal OI. In the short term, it’s indeed stronger than a simple intraday wick/pin. But the price is already approaching the upper edge of the current phase around 0.53. Right now, it’s more suitable to wait for confirmation from the subsequent 1-hour or 4-hour closes, and it’s not advisable to treat an intraday spike as a breakout directly.
Beijing time October 9, 2026 at 04:20: Binance spot TIAUSDT is around $0.5253, up 17.62% in the past 24 hours; USDⓈ-M TIAUSDT perpetual is around $0.5250, up 17.79% in the past 24 hours. The prices on both sides are close, indicating that this move is not driven by only one side of the derivatives/spot market. Spot 24-hour trading volume is about $19.86 million, while perpetuals are about $122 million. Since they use different counting conventions, they cannot be simply added together and treated as a net fund inflow.
Energy (trading volume) changes are more worth关注. The 1-hour candlestick that has already closed recently shows a turnover of about 2.42 million USDT, which is 3.02 times the average of the prior 20 1-hour candles. The 4-hour candlestick that has already closed recently shows a turnover of about 8.11 million USDT, which is 6.18 times the average of the prior 20 4-hour candles. The latest closed 4-hour candle dipped from a low of $0.4485 to $0.4464, then closed at $0.5212. This suggests that both buyers and sellers are exchanging positions very aggressively, but after this candle, the $0.53 zone still has not received a new complete cycle confirmation.
Leverage data is also rising. Binance 1-hour OI historical data shows that about 29 hours ago, open positions were about 37.6 million contracts, with a notional value of about 16.59 million USDT; most recently, it is about 41.96 million contracts and 21.84 million USDT. Based on this interface’s contract count and notional-value 기준, the number increases by about 10%, and the notional value increases by about 30%. With price rising at the same time, OI notional increases, indicating that new leveraged participation is evident. This can amplify the rally, but it also makes liquidation pressure during pullbacks much larger.
The funding rate is not extreme at the moment. The latest funding rate is about +0.005% per 8 hours, and recent settlements have also been at roughly this level. A positive funding rate only indicates that the long side is slightly dominant; it cannot, by itself, prove that the trend will continue, nor can it be treated as a low-risk signal to chase longs.
Next, the focus is on three key levels: First, $0.5296—$0.5303 is the current upper boundary; whether subsequent 1-hour or 4-hour closes can consistently stay above it is more important than merely intraday touches. Second, around $0.5179 is a reference level for a short-term pullback; if the price falls back and then can recover and hold, the strong structure still has a chance to continue. Third, $0.4917 is a more important lower structural reference; if it has already closed below it, it would clearly indicate that the continuation of this high-volume uptrend has weakened significantly.
Therefore, the invalidation condition for a bullish bias is: the price falls back below $0.5179 again, while trading volume rapidly shrinks, or if it further closes and falls below $0.4917. If it only spikes above $0.53 and then immediately pulls back, you also cannot write it as a confirmed breakout.
