About 100 BTC mined in July 2010 were moved to two addresses for the first time after 16 years, and their current value is now roughly $8.5 million.

It’s as if a 2010s treasure hoard reveals just how long coins can “sit” in the shadows, and then suddenly reappear in the market. For most holders, this is simply confirmation that BTC is still valued, but for the market overall—almost no impact: without sales, no money flows appear, so liquidity doesn’t change. Still, the fact that such large “bursts” happen is a reminder that Bitcoin still has hidden reserve holdings that could surface in the event of strong demand.
