I used to compare $BTC and $SOL like rivals. The more I looked, the less sense that made.
Bitcoin's most important feature is a rule that rarely changes. Supply is capped at 21 million coins, and changing that would require nearly everyone to agree. That difficulty is the point. People hold it because the rule is expected to stay put.
Solana runs on the opposite logic. It is a network built to keep improving, with upgrades aimed at higher speed and throughput. Its case rests on what it can do next, so change is part of the product rather than a threat to it.
Seen this way, one asset sells predictability and the other sells capability. They answer different questions, which makes a direct race between them a slightly odd comparison.
It also means each faces a different kind of test. Bitcoin is tested if its rules ever come under real pressure to bend. Solana is tested if upgrades fail to deliver, or if moving fast creates problems of its own.
I don't think today's data settles either question. What I still want to see is how each one holds up when its core promise is actually put under strain.
