[Sui Basecamp Day 2] @SuiNetwork @SuiNetworkCN @Samsung
Something I found quite interesting was announced at the event today:
Samsung Wallet × $SUI
Starting in the last week of October, Samsung plans to add USDC holding and transfer features to supported Galaxy devices in the US, covering around 82 million devices.
But I think what’s really worth paying attention to isn’t “Samsung supporting USDC.”
It’s that:
- Samsung is making Crypto invisible.
- Before, ordinary people who wanted to use USDC had to install a wallet, manage private keys, and prepare Gas.
- Now, all of that can be tucked away behind Samsung Wallet.
- Users just need to open the Wallet they already use and make a transfer.
One key capability Sui brings to the table is Gasless Stablecoin Transfer.
Users don’t need to hold extra SUI to pay Gas, and USDC transfers can have $0 in network fees.
This is actually closer to what Mass Adoption means to me:
- Not getting 100 million people to learn how to use Crypto,
- but letting 100 million people use Crypto without having to learn about it.
- What’s even more interesting is that Samsung also mentioned automatic payments between AI Agents in the future.
If AI can eventually buy services on its own and machines can settle payments automatically, demand for Stablecoin + Blockchain could be much greater than it is today.
So I wouldn’t sum this up as simply:
“Samsung is entering Crypto.”
I’d rather see it as:
Crypto is starting to enter ordinary people’s daily lives.
If one day we’re all using USDC every day without even knowing which chain is behind it,
that may be what true Mass Adoption looks like.
