【Behind Samsung Wallet’s Integration of the Solana Network: Can Tens of Millions of U.S. Devices Break Through the On-Chain App Bottleneck?】

According to reports by Decrypt and other outlets such as Deepwave TechFlow, Samsung has announced the integration of the Solana blockchain into Samsung Wallet on tens of millions of Galaxy devices in the U.S. market, to support USDC cross-border transfers. The feature is expected to be available to users in late October. Previously, Samsung had teased stablecoin support months earlier, but it was not until this disclosure that the underlying base chain was officially confirmed.

Based on publicly available data, this partnership is set to directly reach a massive base of end users. Meanwhile, on-chain analytics firm Santiment shows that since early September, Solana’s network growth rate has risen significantly, with an average of about 1.71 million new wallets added per day. The native integration by this hardware giant and the growth in active addresses together, to some extent, shape the market’s view of the network’s long-term development.

However, there are still differing discussions in the industry about the actual conversion rate of such hardware integrations. On one hand, the seamless connection between hardware pre-installation and wallet entry is seen as a key step in lowering the barrier to Web3 payments, enabling stablecoins to find broader everyday use cases. On the other hand, some analyses suggest that end-user activity does not always align with real institutional demand, and whether hardware-level adoption can successfully translate into sustained on-chain transaction volume still needs to be observed.

When mainstream consumer-grade hardware begins directly introducing public-chain settlement capabilities, what long-term impact will it have on the industry’s user-acquisition model? And while adoption continues to advance at the application layer, how to balance end users’ real usage habits with the hidden operational thresholds of on-chain activity remains an issue worth exploring in the ongoing development of the ecosystem.
