Oct 8-10 Crypto Intelligence|Hardliners Clamp Down · Institutional Backstops · Structural Splits
BTC once again met resistance at 87,000, then fell below 82,000; within 24 hours, liquidations exceeded $700 million. U.S. 10-year Treasury yields surged to 5.36%, the highest level since 2002—global risk assets were hit across the board.
BTC’s cumulative drop this week is close to 5%, with $81,000 becoming the key lower line of defense. October 10 marks the one-year anniversary of the “10/10 Event,” and there is a heightened, psychologically driven risk-off sentiment in the market.
ETF flows diverged: BTC reversed to inflows of $119 million, but ETH continued to see outflows for 6 straight days, with daily withdrawals of $202 million. Institutional willingness to allocate to ETH is declining systemically.
Institutional backstops: the SEC and CFTC jointly issued interpretive guidance, stating that six categories of assets are, in principle, not considered securities. The CFTC officially kicked off rulemaking, and the SEC approved six triple-leveraged ETFs. With the legislative route closed, the “dual-track regulatory” framework is accelerating into shape.
The Base chain treasury was attacked again: $6 million was stolen, and $31.7 million remains at risk. “Forging a fake Safe identity” is becoming a standard operating procedure for attackers. Multisig security does not equal smart-contract security.
In the face of interest rates, there is no true safe-haven asset. Only risk assets with different sensitivities to rates.
That’s all for this episode. I’m Chenqi. See you next time.
