Crypto | Evening Review | October 8

That bearish candle tonight had me watching the charts all evening, but I didn’t dare make a move.

Honestly, I was still leaning bullish around the market open today—BTC touched 83653 this morning and looked ready to challenge 84000. But then it slid steadily all the way down to a low of 81849, closing the day down 1.44%. $ETH was even weaker, slipping from 2586 to 2516, a drop of 1.57%. The worst was $SOL , which plunged straight from 117 to 112, down 3.3%, without putting together a decent bounce all day.

But that’s not what I want to talk about.

Technically: 82000 is a crucial level for BTC. Both times it dipped tonight, it got bought back near 81849, but the rebounds were visibly weak—the highs were lower each time. If it can’t quickly reclaim 82800 tomorrow morning, I’ll put my stop below 81500. ETH hasn’t broken the psychological 2500 level yet, but this is already the fourth test. We all know that a level can’t hold forever if it keeps getting tested.

On the money-flow side (today’s most interesting finding): GTCUSDT ranked first on the slow-grind leaderboard, with a score of 573, but its funding rate is -0.04729%. In plain English, shorts are paying longs. This kind of setup often means big money is quietly accumulating while keeping the price from rising. I’d put it on my watchlist, but I wouldn’t chase it—slow-grind coins take patience; they’re not the kind you buy today and sell tomorrow.

On altcoins: something like AKE, up 561% in 7 days, gets an instant pass from me. Experience tells me that coins up more than 5x in 7 days have a 90% chance of getting cut in half over the next two weeks. OGN, up 94.87% today, is an even clearer example: by the time it makes the leaderboard, it may already have peaked. Stay away. But I’ll keep an eye on two stealth signals: FLOCK’s trading volume is up 38.8x, and MANTRA’s is up 20.5x. When volume leads and the price hasn’t moved yet, that can be the real start of a move.

Today’s lesson: I almost chased ETH long at 2560 around noon, but luckily my hands were too slow to hit the button. Otherwise, tonight would’ve been a double whammy of losses and sleeplessness. Getting lucky by being too slow to chase is really just a byproduct of discipline.

In a nutshell: the broader market is choosing a direction. I’m staying 30% invested and sleeping on it, waiting to see how 82000 and 2500 behave tomorrow.

Did any of you get caught trying to buy the dip today? Or have any real-world experience with slow-grind coins like GTC? Let’s talk in the comments—I’ll buy you a coffee.
