“I’m not selling until I break even.” I’ve said that more than once in my own account.
It took me a while to realize I wasn’t really attached to my position—I was attached to a price.
That price won’t move back just because I’m waiting.
The market responds to buy and sell orders, not to my determination. The more I focus on breaking even, the more likely I am to repeat the same mistake at the same price.
Holding on and doing nothing because you’ve thought it through are two different things.
The first is stubbornness. The second is judgment.
Ask yourself one question first: if I were out of this position right now, would I still buy it?
If you can’t answer, then it’s not the market that has you stuck.
