Samsung Wallet is turning cross-border USDC transfers into a built-in money transfer option on phones: powered by Solana, launching in the final week of October, and reaching 82 million Galaxy devices in the US. Currency conversion between local currencies and USDC is built in, while the blockchain layer runs in the background.
Samsung says the goal is to spare users the complexity of traditional crypto tools. Compared with a standard crypto wallet, the feature is built into a preinstalled app, and the process is more like sending a remittance. But the announcement didn’t say who controls the private keys or how much each transaction will cost, so it’s still unclear how much friction the service will actually remove.
