♦️First: What is a honeypot in trading? A honeypot is a scam tactic used to lure traders into a project or coin that seems appealing, only for them to find that they cannot sell what they bought or withdraw their money.
This happens when a coin appears to be surging, with promises of quick profits or a lot of hype around the project, prompting traders to buy without checking the contract, liquidity, or selling mechanism.
A honeypot may prevent selling, impose extremely high selling fees, or use contract controls that allow developers to drain liquidity or control trading.
♦️Second: How can you avoid a honeypot? Before buying any new coin, check the contract, liquidity, ability to sell, and contract permissions. Don’t rely on price increases or hype alone.
📍Remember: A coin’s price going up doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll be able to sell it and make a profit.
