They really dared to post this. Either Huawei or Dongchedi is going to get blown up.

Dongchedi, ByteDance’s car-review platform, posted an emergency-braking test video of Huawei’s Zunjie S800 today.

The Zunjie S800 costs 880,000 to 1.01 million yuan. It has a fridge in the back and can make coffee. It’s Huawei’s most expensive car.

Test result: They slammed on the brakes, and the brake pedal snapped.

Not just one car. All three snapped. The third car had only 3 km on the odometer. It was hauled to the test site on a flatbed, and the pedal snapped on the second press.

Dongchedi really went all in this time. The first car broke, so they replaced it with a second. That broke too, so they bought a third on the spot. They filmed everything, from pickup to transport to teardown. If you’re going to claim it was faked, ByteDance is putting its biggest automotive platform on the line. Can it afford to take that gamble?

The related Luxeed and Aito models both have reinforced brake-pedal mounts. The million-yuan Zunjie, on the other hand, doesn’t. It’s not about cost. They just didn’t take it seriously.

The spin doctors have already shown up. Someone dug up two blurry readings in the video and claimed the data was 4589, even though the instrument clearly shows a peak of over 1600. If you can pinpoint those two frames in the full video and write a whole hit piece about them, you should switch to quality inspection. Your eyesight is better than the Zunjie engineers’.

ByteDance really is something. If some blogger with a million followers had posted this, their account would already be gone.

Now the whole internet is waiting to see how Huawei responds. A recall would be a first for Harmony Intelligent Mobility. If they don’t recall the cars, then they’ll have to take on ByteDance. But Dongchedi isn’t some individual blogger whose account they can just get banned.

Surely one of these two is going down, right?
