Bitcoin has recently shown another signal worth watching:

Institutional funds are starting to pull back.

Data shows that on October 7, U.S. spot BTC ETFs saw total net outflows of approximately $487 million.

Of that, $208 million flowed out of BlackRock's IBIT, while Fidelity's FBTC saw outflows of $105 million.

Why did such a large outflow happen all of a sudden?

One important factor is that BTC fell below $85,000 that day, while oil prices rose and Treasury yields climbed, putting clear pressure on market risk appetite.

Simply put:

Worsening macro conditions → pressure on risk assets → ETF funds start flowing out.

But this shouldn't be taken to mean that “institutions don't want BTC anymore.”

As of now, cumulative net inflows into U.S. spot BTC ETFs still stand at approximately $57.33 billion, with total assets of around $107.4 billion.

So what really matters is:

Are these $487 million in outflows a short-term flight to safety, or the start of a new wave of capital withdrawals?

📌 Keep an eye on two signals next: whether ETF flows turn positive again, and whether institutional funds return when BTC prices come under pressure.
