This isn’t exactly good news for the price of XRP…
The reason is that assets in XRP spot ETFs are still at a high level, but inflows have slowed noticeably recently.
Let’s look at one data point: as of October 6, five U.S. spot XRP ETFs held a combined total of about $1.7 billion in assets, or roughly 1.13 billion XRP.
But net inflows totaled just $3.9 million over the past week, compared with about $112 million over the past month—a slowdown of an order of magnitude.
Looking more closely at October 6, Bitwise attracted about $11 million in a single day, while Franklin saw outflows of $4.1 million and Canary saw outflows of $3.3 million. This shows that flows are starting to diverge.
One more detail: after XRP’s price fell on October 7, these ETFs’ assets were valued at about $1.61 billion at the closing price, while their holdings remained around 1.13 billion XRP.
Put simply, the amount of XRP held by ETFs hasn’t fallen significantly, but new buying has weakened.
If inflows continue to slow, the support ETFs provide for XRP’s price will weaken as well.
