Foresight News reports that, citing research data from Bitwise, former NEAR core contributor Vadim said that since the fee mechanism was adjusted in February this year, NEAR Intents users have paid more than $29 million in fees, of which approximately $5.3 million has been used to buy back NEAR on the open market.
Among these, $723,000 worth of NEAR was bought back in August. Buybacks totaled $1.84 million in September, accounting for about one-third of all buybacks and marking a 2.5-fold increase in a single month. The increase was driven by buyback transactions receiving a share of trading fees, as trading volume is growing explosively. Intents recorded $4.8 billion in trading volume over the past 30 days, nearly 9 times higher year over year. Tokenized stocks from Hyperliquid and Ondo were added in September, and both are now live on Intents.
