Protocol upgrades and product developments
Lido$LDO announced the launch of Lido Lend, a lending protocol built on a modified version of Morpho Blue. It is scheduled to launch in Q4, initially focusing on blue-chip, low-volatility markets such as stETH and ETH. Isolated-market structure and deposit screening are among its three core design features. LDO rose 2% on the day. This marks Lido’s first step in expanding from liquid staking into the credit layer.
Coinbase announced that it will relaunch Coinbase Pro by year-end. Following the integration of Deribit, it will form the Coinbase Global exchange, bringing US and international derivatives markets together in a single liquidity pool for the first time. Options, spot margin trading, and unified portfolio margin are set to launch in the coming weeks.
Binance listed trading pairs for four tokenized stocks—JPMB, LLYB, SECZB, and USDEB—under its bStocks offering. During the first hour after launch, users could exchange them for BTC or USDT with no fees. The zero maker-fee promotion runs through November 1.
Orca, the leading DEX in the Solana ecosystem, and lending platform Loopscale merged to form a new entity, Formation. The company plans to bring trading, issuance, and financing together in one place, and announced partnerships with Figure, Shinhan Asset Management, Superstate, R3, and Securitize to promote onchain assets. The $ORCA token had surged earlier, but retreated to 2.91 USDT after the merger announcement was finalized.
Revenue and users
CryptoRank data shows that the number of global stablecoin holders has surpassed 300 million. BNB Chain added nearly 13 million holders in Q3, the largest increase among major blockchains, while Celo, Tron, and Solana each added more than 2 million. By the end of September, BNB Chain had become the blockchain with the most stablecoin holders. BNB was trading at 772 USDT, demonstrating notable resilience.
Robinhood added Bitcoin to its balance sheet for the first time, purchasing $25 million worth of BTC. CEO Tenev had repeatedly said publicly that the company had decided against doing so after weighing the options. The change in stance was interpreted by the market as another publicly listed company joining the ranks of corporate Bitcoin holders. Around the same time, Robinhood also rolled out major updates, including AI agents, perpetual futures, and weekend trading.
Brand refresh and funding
At TOKEN2049, CertiK announced a brand refresh, positioning itself as the trust layer for digital value. It is expanding from smart contract auditing into broader trust infrastructure for the digital economy.
Market maker GSR committed $100 million to launch Hare, an onchain vault business built with Turtle. Its first products, backed by $AAVE , offer yield on dollar stablecoins and tokenized gold PAXG.
$WLFI, backed by the Trump family, announced a partnership with payments network Mesh. USD1 will be spendable across a network of major merchants within this quarter. USD1’s market cap is approximately $4.45 billion.
