Odaily Planet Daily reports that ENS has formally applied to the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) for the .ens generic top-level domain. ICANN has announced a new round of applications for generic top-level domains (gTLDs). ENS is the sole applicant for .ens, with no competing applications, so no auction is needed.
