On October 7, Paxos, a trust bank regulated by the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), announced that its crypto brokerage platform, Crypto Brokerage, now officially supports $XRP . Banks, brokerages, and fintech companies connected to Paxos can use its API to offer customers XRP trading, custody, deposits, and withdrawals directly, without building their own systems.
Paxos said in June that the platform supported 29 assets, with the goal of covering most of the top 50 cryptocurrencies by market cap by year-end. Existing Paxos clients listed by the XRP Ledger Foundation include PayPal, Venmo, Interactive Brokers, Charles Schwab, and Mercado Libre. Whether these platforms make XRP available to retail customers is still up to each company.
On the same day, The Wall Street Journal reported that Ripple is becoming a major provider of financing for leveraged ETF swaps: Ripple Prime provides leveraged exposure to multiple ETF issuers through total return swaps, a business long dominated by large banks. On October 6, Ripple also announced that it would provide prime brokerage, clearing, and financing services to hedge fund Brevan Howard.
In the market, as of 10:57 on October 8 (UTC+8), XRP was trading at around $1.426 on Binance spot, down about 2.4% over 24 hours, with an intraday low of $1.407; $BTC was around $83,170, down about 0.8% over 24 hours.
