The most noteworthy development isn’t the name change, but that the $IP → $DATA exchange migration is still “in progress”: Coinbase’s status page says the Story (IP) to Data (DATA) migration is ongoing, with a window of October 5–7 and completion planned for October 8 at 00:15 PDT. Coinbase’s help page says IP deposits and withdrawals were disabled on October 5, and DATA trading would resume on October 7. VALR is also automatically converting tokens at approximately 1:1 starting October 7.

This matters for $DATA because the AI data and intellectual property infrastructure narrative is entering a repricing phase. In the short term, however, price will depend more on actual liquidity after trading resumes than on the name itself.

Bullish conditions: deposits and withdrawals resume across multiple exchanges, DATA/USDT order-book depth remains stable, and there are no unusually large transfers after the migration. Neutral: the ticker change is complete, but trading volume declines. Bearish conditions: the status remains delayed, users mistakenly deposit to old IP addresses, or early holders sell into the restored liquidity. The biggest risk is users mistaking a 1:1 migration for an increase in value.

Would you view this kind of “rebranding + migration” as a narrative upgrade, or as a reshuffling of liquidity? #AI #Infrastructure
