Let’s assume BTC is at:

US$100,000

And you have:

US$100

If you buy US$100 worth of BTC, you get approximately:

0.001 BTC

(not taking fees and price fluctuations into account).

If BTC then rose by 10%, approximately:

📈 US$100 → US$110

If BTC dropped by 10%:

📉 US$100 → US$90

There’s no magic.

The asset’s price determines how much your position is worth.

🚨 BUT THERE’S SOMETHING VERY IMPORTANT

Buying on Spot doesn’t mean you can’t lose money.

The fact that there’s no leverage or automatic liquidation due to leverage doesn’t mean the asset can’t drop in value.

If you buy a crypto and its price drops by 50%:

US$100 → approximately US$50.

That's why:

❌ Spot doesn't mean “no risk.”

🟢 This means that, under normal conditions, you're buying the asset directly with your own funds and without using leverage.

🛒 THINK OF IT AS BUYING AN ASSET

Here's a simple way to understand it:

SPOT = I buy the asset.

You buy BTC → you own BTC.

You buy ETH → you own ETH.

You buy another crypto → you own that crypto.

Then you can decide whether to hold it or sell it.

By contrast, with Futures you can trade on price movements without directly owning the underlying asset. 

📊 AND HOW DO YOU BUY ON SPOT?

On Binance, you'll find different types of orders.

The best-known ones are:

🔹 Market order

You buy or sell at the price available at that moment.

🔹 Limit order

You set the price at which you want to buy or sell, and the order is executed if the market reaches that price.

Binance Spot also offers other types of orders, such as Stop-Limit and OCO, which we'll save for another article because they deserve their own explanation.

Binance

And here's something I think is important:

You don't need to learn every Binance tool all at once.

First, understand what you're buying.

Then learn how to buy it.

Only after that should you start exploring the more advanced tools.

💵 EXAMPLE WITH US$100

Let's imagine you start with:

US$100 in USDT

And you decide to buy BTC.

That doesn't mean you have to put in the full US$100.

You could buy:

💵 US$10 of BTC

💵 US$25 of BTC

💵 US$50 of BTC

💵 US$100 of BTC

The amount depends on your strategy, your risk tolerance, and how much money you're willing to put into the market.

And there's something I want to emphasize:

There's no magic amount you have to start with.

If you're learning, even a small amount can help you understand how orders, prices, fluctuations, and the platform itself work.

⚠️ THREE MISTAKES I'D AVOID WHEN STARTING OUT

1️⃣ Buying just because it's going up

“It's going up → I'll buy.”

That could end up being FOMO.

Ask yourself first:

👉 What am I buying?

👉 Why am I buying it?

👉 What risk am I taking on?

2️⃣ Thinking a drop automatically means an opportunity

Just because a crypto has dropped 30% doesn't necessarily mean it's “cheap.”

It could keep going down.

Lower price ≠ guaranteed opportunity.

3️⃣ Put in money you can afford

This is fundamental to me.

If you need that US$100 to pay for something important tomorrow, it probably shouldn't be exposed to the volatility of a crypto.

Needs first.

Then, money set aside for investing or learning.

🧠 SPOT ISN'T “BORING”

Sometimes Spot is talked about as if it were the boring option because it doesn't have the same appeal as watching:

🔥 10x

🔥 20x

🔥 50x

But that's exactly why it's important.

With Spot, you can learn fundamental concepts:

📌 Buy

📌 Sell

📌 Price

📌 Volatility

📌 Orders

📌 Fees

📌 Risk management

And then, if you ever want to study Futures, you'll already have a foundation.

📚 THIS IS JUST THE FIRST STEP

In the previous article, I said I would explain each concept separately.

So after Spot, we're going to cover:

🔴 What are Futures, really?

Then:

📈 What does it mean to trade with leverage?

💰 What is margin?

⚠️ What does it mean for a position to be liquidated?

🟢🔴 What's the difference between Long and Short?

💸 What is the Funding Rate?

And I also want to explain something many people overlook:

📊 How can you figure out how much you're really risking on a trade?

The idea isn't to teach you how to gamble.

The idea is for you to understand what you're doing before putting your money in.

Because learning first is also part of investing.

💬 NOW IT'S YOUR TURN

If Binance gave you US$100 to learn with tomorrow:

🟢 Would you buy BTC on Spot?

🟡 Would you choose another crypto?

🔵 Would you buy a stablecoin?

⚪ Or would you first look at how the platform works without buying anything?

What would you do, and why? 👇

And if you're just starting to learn:

👉 Which part of Spot would you like me to explain with an example in the next article?
