On October 8, Coinbase announced that it will provide stablecoin services for Samsung Wallet, launching in the United States starting in the last week of October. When users top up their stablecoin balance, $USDC will automatically appear as the default USD stablecoin. The assets will be custodied by Coinbase Prime, in partnership with licensed stablecoin custodian Bastion.

$SUI confirmed on the same day that Samsung Wallet will integrate USDC on the Sui blockchain, reaching approximately 82 million Galaxy devices in the United States. Sui recently launched gas-free stablecoin transfers on its mainnet: peer-to-peer transfers of whitelisted stablecoins such as USDC incur no network fees, and senders do not need to hold SUI.

This is the third step in the partnership: Coinbase added cryptocurrency purchases via Samsung Pay in July 2025, and Samsung Wallet introduced Coinbase One membership benefits in October 2025. Samsung first showcased the USDC interface in its wallet at Galaxy Unpacked on July 22, 2026. According to Coinbase, USDC circulation grew 72% in 2025, exceeding $75 billion.

In the market, as of 08:57 on October 8 (UTC+8), SUI was trading at around $1.141 on Binance Spot, down about 2.6% over 24 hours but up about 2% from $1.12 at 07:00. BTC was trading at around $83,430, down about 2.4% over 24 hours.
