Crypto | Morning Briefing | October 8
This drop has me a little nervous. Is ETH’s 4.6% decline a real breakdown or just a shakeout?
I woke up and checked the charts: ETH had plunged straight to 2,571, down 4.62% over 24 hours. BTC took a hit too, now at 83,210, down 2.68%. And SOL is hovering around 116, down 3.66%. The whole market is in the red. I bet everyone holding positions is feeling pretty down today.
Here’s my personal take: I’m leaning toward this being a shakeout taking advantage of the broader move, not a trend reversal. Three reasons:
First, BTC dropped from 85,559 to 82,706, a fall of about 3.3%, without panic selling on heavy volume. Second, although ETH fell more, it’s still above 2,500, a zone with a lot of previous trading activity. Third, there’s no major macroeconomic shock; this is purely a technical pullback.
So my personal strategy is: if you’re holding spot, don’t touch it; don’t try to catch the bottom with futures; wait for BTC to hold firmly above 83,000 before considering adding to your position.
Two things to keep an eye on today:
- Can ETH hold 2,500? This is the short-term line between strength and weakness.
- Will altcoins rebound along with BTC, or keep drifting lower?
Did you buy the dip today, or are you still sitting on the sidelines? Share your moves in the comments.
