#110,000 liquidated last night: The Fed’s blade and France’s “black swan”
$BTC $XAU $BZ
Global assets plunged last night, and the crypto market was hit by a bloodbath. #BTC briefly fell below 84,000 and is now at 83,200. $ETH plunged nearly 5%. More than 110,000 traders were liquidated within 24 hours, with total liquidations reaching $701 million, including $642 million in long positions. Bulls were brutally wiped out.

On the news front, the Fed’s September minutes showed a 25-basis-point rate hike to 3.75%–4.00%, amid deep internal divisions (Logan believes at least two more 25-basis-point hikes will be needed before year-end, while Williams advocates patience). Meanwhile, the New York Fed’s one-year inflation expectations surged to 3.9%, the highest since 2023. And then there’s the real “black swan”: France’s worsening fiscal situation. The yield spread between French and German government bonds hit its highest level since 2012, reigniting fears of a European debt crisis.

Most surreal of all, gold and silver failed as safe havens and plunged sharply, while oil alone surged against the trend and held above $101. In extreme market conditions, holding oversized positions is a recipe for disaster.

My biggest takeaway from reviewing the market late last night: the market is always right. Don’t make excuses for losses, and never stubbornly hold oversized positions when you’re extremely anxious. Respect the market, control your emotions—staying out of the market and waiting is also top-tier trading. If you preserve your capital, you’ll be ready when the next opportunity comes. Wishing everyone well! 🌹
