Robinhood’s $25 million in Bitcoin looks more like a sample in a shop window than inventory.

Johann Kerbrat put it plainly: this $25 million won’t change the company’s direction or bring it into alignment with the crypto community.

Robinhood shares closed at $112 on October 6, down 1.85%. For a company with a market cap of over $100 billion, $25 million barely registers.

That same week, it announced plans to launch crypto perpetual futures in the U.S. They have no expiration date, and gains and losses are settled every 15 minutes.

The real moves in positions are being made by others: BlackRock’s IBIT bought and received 1,426.47 BTC from Coinbase Prime, worth $119 million; Wintermute sold 619.59 BTC through Binance, worth $51.7 million.

Together, those two transactions amount to several times Robinhood’s purchase—which buyer is actually changing their position?

The bigger risk is mistaking Robinhood’s sample for an inventory order: if this BTC position is still around the same size in the next annual report, it’s still just a statement of intent.
