Fed minutes confirm: Most officials expect one more rate hike this year, but do not support consecutive hikes—neutral to slightly bearish for BTC.

The Federal Reserve released the minutes of its September meeting at 02:00 Beijing time on October 8. Most officials expected one more rate hike this year. However, many viewed the September hike as “insurance” against persistent inflation, while only a few advocated sustained rate hikes to actively curb inflation. Overall, the minutes showed no appetite for consecutive hikes.

This confirms that the risk of a December rate hike remains high, which is neutral to slightly bearish for BTC. However, the minutes did not support multiple consecutive hikes, and the tone was less hawkish than the worst-case expectations, limiting further downside pressure. After the release, BTC remained near $83,300, with no fresh wave of severe liquidations so far.

Next to watch: the probability of a December rate hike, whether the 10-year U.S. Treasury yield can retreat, and whether BTC can hold above its intraday low of $82,846 and regain a firm footing above $84,000.
