He says stablecoin payroll is both already here and still under study.
At the Token2049 conference in Singapore, World Liberty Financial co-founder Eric Trump said that, as a “super-employer,” his family business has tens of thousands of employees across its global hotel assets and is “without a doubt looking into” paying them in stablecoins. Yet in the same speech, he also declared that “the era of paying wages in stablecoins has arrived.” How far along they are, which hotels will be first, and how many of those tens of thousands of employees have actually received stablecoin paychecks—he didn’t give a single number. The only figures we can verify are these: clearing a regular employee’s paycheck takes 24–36 hours, while what people want is for their money to “hit their account instantly.” The precedent of athletes being paid in Bitcoin for contracts follows the logic of asset appreciation; it’s not the same as a fixed wage for an ordinary employee. “Looking into it” is the present progressive, and the two statements contradict each other. I believe the former.
Only when stablecoin payments actually show up on the paychecks of those tens of thousands of employees can we say the “era has arrived.”
