Gecex Resolution No. 971, published on October 7, added Equihash-based ASIC equipment to the Ex-Tariff regime.

To qualify, the machine must meet very precise specifications:

ā” up to 3,200 W
š§ ASIC dedicated to Equihash
These specifications are compatible with machines in the Antminer Z15 Pro category, mainly used to mine Zcashāø $ZEC āøand other Equihash-compatible coins.
The benefit will remain valid untilā¤µ
š SEPTEMBER 30, 2028
But noteā¤µ
ā ļø THIS IS NOT A TOTAL TAX EXEMPTION.
IPI, PIS/Cofins-Importation, and ICMS remain subject to the applicable rules.

Bitcoin uses SHA-256. Brazil has had specific Ex-Tariff categories for $BTC mining equipment since 2022, with another category for more efficient machines introduced in 2026.
