As of the evening of October 7, major coins were weakening in tandem: BTC was around 83,031 USDT, down about 3.8% over 24 hours; ETH was around 2,560 USDT, down about 5.7%; BNB was around 767 USDT, down about 2.2%; and SOL was around 115.87 USDT, down about 4.6%.

BTC’s intraday low reached 82,787 USDT, while ETH’s low reached 2,552 USDT. This isn’t volatility limited to a single coin; major assets are broadly under pressure, and short-term risk appetite has cooled noticeably.

But what’s really worth thinking about today may not just be “how much prices have fallen,” but what the market is starting to recalculate: **what kind of buzz has a chance of lasting?**

Over the past while, many sectors have heated up rapidly: Layer 2 networks, AI, RWA, on-chain infrastructure… Capital, users, and attention can all pour in over a short period. But when the market pulls back, incentives decline, and liquidity tightens, a project's ability to keep running ultimately comes down to a few more basic questions:

Does it have real users?

Short-term trading volume and TVL are certainly important, but the more crucial question is whether users will continue using a product when there are no substantial incentives.

Does it have a clear revenue and cost model?

A project can attract attention with a compelling narrative, but it is difficult to avoid the ongoing costs of development, operations, security, and ecosystem maintenance. The bigger challenge is turning hype into steady demand.

Can its liquidity withstand volatility?

When major cryptocurrencies pull back, smaller-cap assets tend to be more volatile. Gainers lists can offer clues about the market, but trading depth, holder concentration, and risk events are also worth checking.

Today's market action serves as a reminder: when the market no longer rewards “storytelling” alone, capital may pay closer attention to whether a project has real-world use cases, the ability to operate sustainably, and the resilience to withstand risk.
