#美联储纪要聚焦10月暂停加息
【Old Leek Watch】
Tonight, the market isn’t focused on why the Fed raised rates in September. It’s asking:
Will it raise them again in October?
In September, the Fed just raised rates by 25 basis points, bringing them to 3.75%–4.00%.
But after the meeting, the US labor market cooled noticeably: only 29,000 jobs were added in September, and the unemployment rate rose to 4.2%.
As a result, market expectations of another rate hike in October have fallen from over 50% a week ago to about 20%.
The market is now largely betting on a pause in October.
If tonight’s meeting minutes show that more officials favor “waiting and seeing,” risk assets may get some more breathing room.
On the other hand, if the minutes are clearly hawkish, the market’s expectations of a rate cut or pause could be reversed.
