Ethereum activated Glamsterdam on the Sepolia testnet, aiming to raise the gas limit from 60 million to 200 million—more than tripling it. Activation dates for mainnet and Hoodi have yet to be set.
What’s interesting is the market reaction: ETH actually fell 2.92% on the day of the upgrade, to $2,618. Scaling has been talked about for years, but when it comes time to increase block capacity, the price isn’t buying it. The technical roadmap moves quarter by quarter; prices move with sentiment. They’re two different things.
A successful testnet run doesn’t mean it’s ready for mainnet—there are still plenty of untested assumptions in between. It’s progress worth noting, but price gains are still a long way off.
